Aomori
JERA Co., Inc. has been selected to develop a new offshore wind project in the Sea of Japan off the coast of Aomori Prefecture.
This project is one of the largest offshore wind power generation projects in Japan, with a planned power generation capacity of 615MW, and is expected to begin operations in June 2030. It will be developed by a joint venture of JERA, Tohoku Electric Power Co Inc and Green Power Investment (GPI), the Japanese renewable energy developer.
This will be the third Japanese offshore wind project JERA Group has developed, with our Ishikari Bay site inaugurated in 2024 and the Oga, Katagami and Akita site in development.
As the JV develops the Project, it will respect the Report on the Opinions of the Council on the Sea of Japan Offshore Aomori Prefecture (Southern Side of the Prefecture) and proceed based on the principles of coexistence and co-prosperity with local communities and the fishing industry.
